URBAN INTERFERENCES: ART BETWEEN DIFFUSION AND DISPERSION

An important topic of the art world is to define where and which are its borders. In several projects I tried to stress out the relationship between the art object and its public. In the poster project 3500 cm2 was the stronger relation of an inverse process of public art. The title 3500cm2 refers to the surface area of a 50x70cm poster. Around 70 international artists exhibited their work in this size and format; it was then given for free to a large public, often not from the art world. Sonicity was a project that combined music, architecture and art in a particular urban situation. Sound Art Museum and Radio Arte Mobile are sound based projects that try to investigate how changing the art object into an immaterial version allows it to reach different kinds of public.

Lorenzo Benedetti was born in Rome, 1972. He is a curator and an art critic. In 2005 he founded the SoundArtMuseum. He is curator of the non-profit art space Volume!, in Rome. He is curator at the museum MARTa Herford, since 2007. He curated or co-curated, among others, exhibitions such as: Anarchitecture (De Appel Foundation, Amsterdam, 1999); Post-tragi-KoMik (Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena, 1999); Tribù dell'arte Situationism section (Macro, Rome, 2001); Moving Landscapes (Sala 1 Rome, 2002); A'dam & Eve (De Appel Foundation, Amsterdam 2002); Three more stars: Floria Sigismondi, Michel Gondry, Chris Cunningam (Enzimi Festival, Rome 2002); Sonicity a series of interdisciplinary events that put in relation art, music and architecture in a determined urban context, Corviale and Ostiense, (Rome 2002); Urban Interference (Bruxelles, 2003); Wayleave International magazine exhibition (Rome, Bologna 2003-2006); Loop – Art and the microeconomy (Rome 2005); Busan Biennale (Busan – Korea 2006); Editing (Gorizia, Rome, 2005-2007).

INTERFERÊNCIAS URBANAS: A ARTE ENTRE A DIFUSÃO E A DISPERSÃO

Um tópico importante no mundo da arte é definir onde estão e quais são as suas fronteiras. Em vários projectos tenho tentado sublinhar a relação entre o objecto artístico e o seu público. O projecto do poster 3500 cm2 deu forma à mais forte relação de um processo inverso ao da arte pública. O título 3500cm2 refere-se à superfície de um poster de 50x70 cm. Cerca de 70 artistas de vários países expuseram o seu trabalho neste tamanho e formato, que foi depois oferecido a um público alargado, a maior parte dele não pertencendo ao mundo da arte. Sonicity foi um projecto que combinou música, arquitectura e arte numa situação urbana particular. Sound Art Museum e Radio Arte Mobile são projectos sonoros que procuram investigar como dar ao objecto de arte uma versão imaterial permite que ele alcance diferentes tipos de público.
